In September, the whole of the ECB was sent on a team building exercise in the Cotswolds. I thought the whole idea of falling backwards and trusting your colleagues to catch you was a just a cliche...but apparently not. It made complete sense that the facilitators were American - I can't imagine Brits or Australians being able to pull off the level of cringe-inducing enthusiasm that was required. Over the course of 3 days the exercises progressively increased in height and scariness until we eventually got to the one in the picture where we climbed a tree to a platform about 15 meters off the ground and jumped off, trying to touch a ball in the process. This is actually me in the picture and if it's not clear, my thoughts are along the lines of 'oh my god, are you kidding me? I have to jump off?' Until this one, I hadn't been scared at all, but this was really high! It was all very safe and we were harnessed so not difficult to overcome the initial irrational fear, but still...! In addition to the outdoor activities we did some personality profiling. Apparently I'm a 'Controller-Analyser' which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone!
