Beckford, Cotswolds

For the second Bank Holiday in May (which also coincided with half-term) we booked a cottage for a week in the Cotswolds with Malthe and Kati. We found Windfall Cottage via Baby-Friendly Boltholes, which was great as it had cots, highchairs, toys and all kinds of things you might need for kids. We had a great week with only one day of rain and mostly lovely sunny weather. The big yard was fenced so the little ones had lots of room to wander around safely and there was a little field with chickens and a separate little fenced off area with a pond and ducks. The kids loved checking every morning for eggs and feeding the ducks and chickens. (Although Milo soon worked out how to open the gate to the chickens which meant a few close calls with the chickens trying to escape!) The cottage was in the tiny village of Beckford with one store and a nice little playground. We mainly stayed close to the cottage (although Kati and I did find some time for massages at Daylesford Organic and Cowley Manor) and spent our time eating and relaxing (as much as you can with 4 children!)
