Sightseeing in London

Today we decided to do some touristy things and took the tube to Waterloo Station. First stop was Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.

10 Downing Street is just around the corner, but huge fences and a couple of security guards with very large guns keep the tourists away. With a slight detour off the Thames, we went past Trafalgar Square (Nelson's Column below).

Last stop was London Bridge. Although, as we discovered, London Bridge is your basic bridge and it's actually Tower Bridge (next bridge along) which is big and grand looking. Clearly the confusion has been caused by the fact that London Bridge has its own nursery rhyme, 'London Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling down...' etc, thus the expectation that it be worthy of such. Although, neither is it falling down, so maybe best not to use nursery rhymes in logical thought processes (Rock-A-Bye-Baby being another example, 'When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall...' Not good, really.)
