On Sunday we caught the train to Manchester to see Bruce Springsteen at the MEN Arena, a big stadium very similar to Melbourne Park. We had pretty good seats - first row on the upper tier so a great view of the whole show. Bruce and his 17-piece band played for 2.5 hours, almost all from the new album. Next day I had some meetings for work and then we caught the train back to London where we made a quick stop home and then straight out to the Hammersmith Apollo to see show #2. This time the venue was a theatre (one of the seemingly hundreds of ye olde theatres in London) which was much more suited to the show and we had floor tickets so were much closer to the action. I won't attempt to review the shows - my lack of extensive Bruce knowledge and understanding may upset the long-time fans - but I will say that for 18 musicians on stage, the production/sound was amazing for both shows, and even I was singing along on the second night. And how good is the tuba? A very underrated instrument which should be used more in rock. To read more go to Nick's blog .
