Today* was the first scan. The sonographer told us all the measurements were within normal ranges and it was really quite amazing to see the baby on the screen - there really is something in there!
For those who haven't heard all the details, the baby is due on November 1 and the first trimester has gone very well - no morning sickness, no real issues at all. We are staying in the UK (the second question everyone asks after 'when are you due?') but will (all going well) be home for Christmas, as planned. The only big change (except for having a baby, of course) will be (hopefully) to move house. Yes, we are very excited although it's all still quite unreal!
