Milo's update, 9 days later than planned. He's 3.5 years old!
Sleeping: He's been very good recently at going to sleep in the evening but he's fallen into the habit, obviously linked to Henry's wake up times, of getting around 5ish. Not great. A few nights recently he's come into our room at 2 or 3am. He tells us it's because he's had a bad dream but we're not sure about this... Fortunately he can be successfully transitioned back to his own bed - if one of us can wake up enough to remember that we should do that. If he stays in our bed it's just not good as we are either getting kicked or hit with flailing limbs - as he usually sleeps diagonally it's one or the other and both of us at the same time. (Now I appreciate what my Grandma always used to complain of.)
Eating: He's really not a big eater and will happily not eat if he doesn't like the options at dinner (which is usually what Nick and I are having). We never get this feedback from nursery and they eat a fairly varied diet but with us he won't eat loads unless it's breakfast foods or cheesy pasta. Makes cooking something specifically for him a little demotivating as it's so unlikely he will eat much.

Playing: It's still all about superheroes. Thor, The Flash, Batman, Superman... In other news, he's getting better at playing with Henry - or perhaps, more accurately, allowing Henry to get involved in what he's doing. He still has his moments where he doesn't want to share his toys but is generally getting a little more tolerant.
| He wrote this! |
Learning: We're trying to get him to write more. His concentration span on stuff like this is fairly short though so it's tough. Nursery are encouraging us to spend more time with him on letters but then I read the other day about kids in Finland who don't start school until 7 and don't learn to write until then... Regardless, he can do it but it isn't something he's particularly interested in.
He's getting pretty good at picking out words - usually because he knows one of the letters and can guess the rest based on the context. Although he's also got a really good memory so that probably helps.

Other: I've overhauled the reward chart as it was getting just too generous with 5 stickers and unlimited rewards. So the new rules are he must get 10 stickers in a week starting Monday to receive his reward on Sunday. This is working a bit better. Although Nick still finds ways to buy new toys.
We also had an incident with the TV this week where Milo was frustrated when Nick put on Play School (which he didn't want to watch) so he slapped/hit the TV cracking a small section of the screen...not good...TV has been banned for 2 weeks.
Favourite thing: As Henry couldn't go to nursery last week, I did drop-off with Milo without the pram (which is an achievement as he's not a big walker). Both times he walked to and from nursery without complaint and held my hand the whole way (he's never been a big hand holder and would only previously allow it for crossing roads). That, in itself, was awesome. But also we had great chats about keeping monkeys in your bedroom and sang lots of songs. Brilliant.
