Koh Samui, Thailand (4) - Part 1

We're currently half-way through our 12-night stay in Thailand, so here's what's happened so far... (You can read about our other trips to Thailand here).

We left London last Saturday night flying with Eva Air who we were a bit sceptical about however they proved to be pretty good. Far better than us who were just ok as passengers (and by us, I mean two overtired, overstimulated, overexcited children of 1 and 3). However as it's only about 10.5 hours to Bangkok, it was nothing compared to 21-ish hours flying time to Australia. So we arrived in Bangkok feeling not too bad, only to miss our connecting flight to Koh Samui. To be fair to Bangkok Air, we were probably cutting it fine with only a 90 minute transit window however it didn't help that the flight closed while Nick was waiting in a queue which he'd been standing in for quite a while... Anyway, they put us on a flight about 4 hours later, escorted us through customs and put us in the business lounge to wait so it wasn't too bad.

Finally we arrived at Koh Samui airport late on Sunday and after a brief panic that our bags had gone missing, our driver from Anantara collected us and took us to the resort. We're staying in a 2-bedroom suite which is unbelievably awesome and huge and it took us no time at all to settle in. The first night was brilliant with both boys sleeping through until about 9am, but it's all gone a bit pear-shaped since then with one or both waking in the night and one of them usually ending up in bed with us (which makes the 2-bedrooms almost redundant...)

We originally planned the trip to coincide with the Taratuta's and we were very excited to see them when they arrived on Thursday. However we've been very lucky to have friends here at the same time as well - in fact, Milo's best friend, Max (with Tanya, Perry and sister, Penelope), from London. It's been a huge bonus to hang out with them - makes us love it here even more than we usually do.

(Weather has been fab - 32-33 degrees and sunny every day, some rain tonight for the first time. Sea is a bit crap - very murky, unfortunately).

Finally, some photos from our first 6 days. More to come, obviously!

On Monday night/Tuesday morning, Henry woke up at 3am and refused to go back to sleep. Then Milo woke up around 5:30 so we decided to head down to the beach with my camera before getting breakfast (I had left Nick in bed to get some more sleep but he begrudgingly came with us). None of this was good. However, I took what may be my favourite pictures ever of Nick and the boys and these will last much longer than the memory of a couple of hours of missed sleep (so all is forgiven, Henry xo).
