On Saturday we drove down to Worthing in West Sussex (south coast, about half an hour west of Brighton) to visit our friends Kelly and Nick. (The drive there - and back - was not so great. The Olympic Road Race was on and roads were shut all over SW London and Surrey which meant some big delays on the M25 so our trip down took about 3 hours when it should have only taken 2. On the way back, we thought we would be much more clever and avoid the M25. Our trip back took 4 hours...)
On Saturday afternoon we walked down to the beach (just 5 minutes from Kelly and Nick's house). I think this may have been my first time on one of the famous pebble beaches of England. Although the weather had been nice all week (around 25-30 degrees) it was cooler again over the weekend so definitely no swimming. We walked along a short way until we came to the pier and carnival where Nick failed to win a Papa Smurf on the claw machines but Milo had some fun on a couple of the games.
We stayed on Saturday night with Milo registering his latest stay-up ever, going to bed when we did around 11pm, just too excited to sleep. On Sunday morning, Kelly and I went for a slightly wet and windy run by the beach and after some brunch and a bit more catching up for us and playing for the boys (Milo and Henry loved playing with Harry and Rosie and had a brilliant time), we loaded up the boys again and headed back to London.
