Koh Samui, Thailand (3)

This was the third time we had been to Koh Samui - the second time this year (!) and the second time we had decided to stay at Anantara (my post about the first time can be found here).

We arrived early on Sunday morning and already it was very hot and humid which was a bit overwhelming, but quite welcome at the same time. We got our bags, were collected by our driver and checked in to the resort in a blur before finally relaxing in our room. The following days almost entirely consisted of breakfast, pool/beach, nap, pool/beach, and a mix of going out for dinner and getting room service delivered (which is unbelievable value for money in Thailand - Milo's meals were 100 baht - about 2 pounds - and always great quality). We love Anantara mostly for the location - right on the beach, a very easy walk to the local village (Fisherman's Village) for awesome food in some really nice restaurants, a convenience store for snacks and drinks just minutes away - plus the amazing Thai service in a 5* resort which is far better value than anything similar in Europe. Love love love.

Sunrise Monday morning, from our balcony, about 5am. We all woke early on Monday, but soon settled in and even Milo was sleeping through until between 6 and 7 which was brilliant!

Milo super-excited about wearing his Wiggles UV shirt -

Hanging by the pool -

On the beach.

Milo loved sitting in the shallows and playing with some plastic beach gear we had bought -

On Wednesday we hired a driver and took Milo to the aquarium we had been to before where they had loads of fish, but also a seal show and a tiger show - and even a few monkeys! Milo loved the seals but was reluctant to get too close -

The tiger (and bird) show -

Watching the tigers -

Milo and Nick feeding a tiger! They advertised this as the 'baby' tiger, as opposed to the big grown up tiger, but we were envisaging a cute, cuddly type tiger, the size of a small puppy...hence the anxious look on Nick's (and Milo's) face -

After the aquarium we took Milo to see some elephants which he was very excited about. Again, we had been here before and had done a 'trek' which took about half an hour but this one for Milo was a quick 5 minute version -

Feeding one of the elephants -

Milo loved this although didn't want to hold the food (mostly bananas and some corn) and was justifiably nervous about the big strong trunk coming too close -

Milo with his first completely independent Duplo construction - a dinosaur! He was very proud -

Milo checking to make sure Daddy was colouring in the lines -
