One of the reasons it's taken so long to get around to doing this update is because it's so hard to get photos of Milo as he is not a particularly willing subject...so last Milo update here (exactly 3 months ago). How much more grown up does he seem?!
Sleeping: Not too bad... Most nights he will be asleep by 8pm without issue and will wake up around 6 (usually when he hears Nick or I up with Henry). However now that Nick is coming home later (7ish on a good night), Milo gets quite wound up around bedtime so it can take a while for him to calm down enough to sleep. I'm sure Milo will get used to it though and this will be less of an issue for us.
Eating: Not much to report here. A favourite at the moment is fresh filled pasta (like spinach and ricotta tortellini) aka. 'square pasta'.
Playing: Superheroes are still number 1. Avengers, Spiderman, Batman... He has mini-figures and bigger (about 25cm high) chunky figures and both sets see lots of action. He also love Transformers which he spotted in the airport in Singapore when we went back to Australia so he has got a few of those now too. New favourites are the Smurfs (you can see a Papa Smurf mini-figure in Milo's hand in the first picture) and the Mr Men series. Not sure how the Smurfs came about, but I think he keen because Nick and I both had them when we were young (was it a BP promotion?) With Mr Men, he has 6 books and they are definitely his favourite bedtime stories at the moment - similarly, he loves hearing how we read the books when we were kids. We have quite an extensive car collection (mostly characters from the movie 'Cars') and he's been playing with those a bit more recently because our friend Charlie really likes them.
Usually Henry plays with whatever Milo likes (which is ok about 30% of the time, contentious the other 70%) but sometimes Milo wants to play with what Henry has - like his baby doll, blocks, various wooden toys. We're trying to remind Milo to play nicely with his little brother, but he gets very possessive about his toys (despite having so many...and Henry is equally possessive and will snatch and hit and shout, so it definitely goes both ways!)
Learning: Milo can count up to 20 easily and can recognise all the numbers up to 10 (although occasionally gets 8 and 9 mixed up). Usually on the way home from nursery we stop outside all the houses on our street so Milo can tell me the numbers (at his request!) He's still not a huge fan of practising writing letters so we haven't done much of that recently, but he can recognise quite a few.
Other: He has his 3-year-old moments (many involving his little brother or just being over-tired or spending too much time with the other boys at nursery), but he is generally very sweet and kind and fun to be with. He often says 'I love you, Mummy/Daddy' and 'Mummy/Daddy, you're my best friend' (not really sure if he thinks you can have more than one or that you can alternate randomly...) He has very good manners (I thank nursery for this) and will almost always say 'please' and 'thank you' when asking for/receiving things and 'excuse me' when he is trying to get someone's attention. Occasionally he will do unbelievably sweet things for his brother with no prompting - like finding him a toy he likes if he's upset or choosing books for bedtime (when I read to them together) that he thinks are suitable for Henry. Yesterday he suggested that Charlie borrow some of our cars to take home - then went and chose the specific cars that Charlie really liked. Sometimes he says 'Daddy/Mummy, how was your day?' and tells me I look beautiful or pretty.
(Sarah B reminded me of this the other day - although I can't quite recall when it happened. Milo and Henry were in the bath and Milo told me he was 'in love' with Henry. So I tried to explain to him the difference between being 'in love' and 'love' - quite difficult, I think. Despite that, Milo continued to insist that he was 'in love' with Henry.)

Favourite thing: (As I mentioned already in my Olympics post) I've really loved watching the Olympics with Milo (and Henry, although he's less interested) in the mornings on the days when it's my turn to get up. In the evening Milo has been asking 'is it your turn to get up tomorrow, Mummy?' - it's brilliant when just doing this kind of simple thing together is a treat. (Although, your 3-year-old telling you that you are beautiful is pretty awesome too.)
