For Christmas we received a lovely present from Alex Barclay (our house guest for a few months last year) - lunch at The Ritz. We decided to make a day of it and booked a Wednesday (when the boys were in nursery) and also got tickets to see the matinee of 'All New People', a play starring Zach Braff (of Scrubs fame).
Although we had been to The Ritz before for High Tea with Norma and Frank, we had clearly forgotten how strict the dress code was. We got the 'no jeans, no trainers' (our usual lunch attire) but missed the 'jacket and tie' bit. So Nick had to borrow a jacket and tie from the cloak room which was clearly not unusual as they had quite a selection to choose from...the end result was a little bit random but not too bad!
The dining room is beautiful (better pictures here). The food was excellent (I would try to detail what we ate but it wouldn't sound nearly as good as it was) and 35 staff that waited on us (only a slight exaggeration) were great. All up, it was lovely and we really enjoyed it. (Thank you, Alex! x)
